Biographical Information[edit]
Leandro Hasegawa has played for the Brazilian national team in several events.
In the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, he was 0 for 4 with a walk, backing up Rodrigo Miyamoto in LF and Tiago Magalhães at DH. He saw regular action at age 20 in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, going 3 for 20 with a hit-by-pitch and was caught stealing. In 8 games, he had no runs or RBI. He did play good defense, with 3 assists as the backup right fielder behind Thiago Ojima and playing error-free ball both there and as the backup catcher to Luis de Camargo. He played in the 2003 Pan American Games as well. He had yet another position in the 2008 Americas Baseball Cup, playing flawless defense again, now as the starting second baseman for Brazil. He was 6 for 24 with a double, two RBI, walk and steal and tied for the event lead with two sacrifice flies.
