Leander Tugerson signed with the Indianapolis Clowns in 1950 and spent three years with them. He pitched in the 1951 East-West Game, starting for the East and throwing three shutout innings (two hits, one whiff) in a 3-1 win. In 1953, he and brother Jim Tugerson signed with the Hot Springs Bathers. The Cotton States League tried to evict the Bathers from the league for signing black players. The Bathers then optioned the two hurlers to the Knoxville Smokies; Leander struggled at 3-5, 5.55, whereas his brother won 29 games.
