Biographical Information

Leah Cornish was the youngest player in the Australian Women’s Super League at age 13. By age 16, she made Australia's squad for the 2023 Women's Baseball World Cup. She debuted against the US, pinch-hitting for Gen Beacom and getting plunked by Cody Eckert. Their youngest player, she got some mound work against South Korea, relieving Claire O'Sullivan with a 8-1 lead in the 6th. Hyeo-nah Kim singled, Hyeon-hee Kim hit into a double play and Soo-ji Ahn grounded out. Ashley Patton took over in the 7th. Her first hit was off Yin-Sum Kwong of Hong Kong, scoring Lili Cavanagh. She finished the event 3-for-5 with 3 walks, 2 times plunked, a steal, 3 runs and 3 RBI, fine play for anyone regardless of age. She also pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings, allowing two hits. She had one putout in right field.
