Biographical Information[edit]
Larry Goetz began umpiring in the Blue Grass League from 1920 to 1922. He moved to the Western Ohio League (1923), Piedmont League (1924), and the American Association (1925-1935). Goetz was a National League umpire from 1936 to 1956.
He is one of the Three Umpires depicted in Norman Rockwell's famous picture of that name, alongside home plate umpire Beans Reardon and fellow crew member Lou Jorda. The painting was the front cover of the Saturday Evening Post on April 23, 1949.
