Saturday Evening Post
The Saturday Evening Post was a weekly magazine from 1897-1963, then declined in publishing frequency. It is still around today, published six times a year. At the apex of its popularity, it was one of the most read magazines of its type in the United States. It featured cover illustrations by Norman Rockwell (including some famous ones with a baseball theme) and short stories by luminaries like F. Scott Fitzgerald, Sinclair Lewis, Edith Wharton and Ray Bradbury. While sports was not a major focus, there were occasional articles about baseball as it was an inescapable social phenomenon in those years.
