Biographical Information[edit]

Like his father, Larry Barton, Larry Barton Jr. was a minor league player and manager as well as a scout.

Barton debuted in 1963, hitting .257/.324/.329 as a backup catcher for the St. Petersburg Saints. In 1964, he batted .243 and slugged .312 for the Grand Forks Chiefs. He later managed the Billings Mustangs to a 47-21 record in 1984; the club won the regular-season Pioneer League title but fell, 3 games to 1, to Helena in the championship round. Barton also was a Cincinnati Reds scout from 1972 into at least the 1990s, signing Eric Davis, Kurt Stillwell and Tracy Jones among others.
