Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Lance Beus pitched in the minor leagues for three years.

Beus was picked by the Colorado Rockies in the 24th round of the 2002 amateur draft then was 6-9 with a 3.90 ERA as a sophomore at Cochise College. After a brief stay at Oklahoma State, he came to BYU for the 2004 season and was 3-1 with a 5.97 ERA. In his senior year, he went 3-1 with a 5.06 ERA, walking 31 in 42 2/3 IP.

Beus was selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 28th round of the 2005 amateur draft and played two years in their organization. He was 1-2 with a save and a 3.68 ERA for the 2005 Everett AquaSox. He then split 2006 between the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (0-6, 4.46) and Inland Empire 66ers (1 R in 2 2/3 IP).

In 2007, he was with the Anderson Joes of the independent South Coast League, going 0-1 with a 7.58 ERA.

Beus' grandmother is a cousin of former big leaguer Vern Law.
