Biographical Information[edit]

High school catcher Kyle Skipworth was the 6th pick in the 2008 amateur draft. Taken by the Florida Marlins, he was signed by scout Robby Corsaro for a $2.3 million bonus. He made his pro debut on June 27, going 0 for 2 with a strikeout for the GCL Marlins and began his professional career 0 for 8.

He hit .208 in 43 games with the GCL Marlins in 2008. In 2009, he hit .208 in 70 games with the Greensboro Grasshoppers. He split 2010 between the Grasshoppers (107 games) and Jacksonville Suns (two games), hitting .245 with 17 home runs and 59 RBI. In 2011, he hit .207 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI for the Suns, striking out 143 times in 396 at-bats.
