Biographical Information

Kyle McCrady is an umpire who worked his first major league game on September 4, 2020. He was the last of 19 umpires to make their major league debut that season, as a result of a number of veteran umpires sitting out the season due to the coronavirus pandemic. He worked a total of 18 games that season, all in the two western divisions.

He became a professional umpire in 2013, working in the Arizona League, working there very briefly before being promoted to the Northwest League. He moved up to the California League in 2014. He also worked in the Texas League and Pacific Coast League before getting his first shot at the majors. He worked the 2017 Texas League All-Star Game and the 2018 Futures Game in Washington, DC.

His father was the mayor of his hometown of Longview, WA. He was an outfielder in junior college, but then took up umpiring amateur games to earn some money on the side while working on his bachelor's degree at Washington State University. He liked it and decided to attend the MiLB Umpire Academy in the winter of 2013.
