Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Kyle Manzardo was selected by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2nd round of the 2021 amateur draft. He had just completed his junior season at Washington State University by hitting .366 with 11 homers and 60 RBIs in 47 games, after hitting .436 in 16 games in 2020 before the season was ended prematurely by the COVID-19 pandemic.

He made his professional debut in 2021 with the FCL Rays, playing 13 games and hitting .349. In 2022, he split his time between the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League and the Montgomery Biscuits of the AA Southern League. It was an excellent season as he hit .327/.426/.617 in 93 games, with 26 doubles, 22 homers, and 81 RBIs. He was a Southern League All-Star and a High-A and Sally League All-Star, as well as an organizational All-Star. In 2023, he started off in AAA with the Durham Bulls of the International League, where he hit .238 in 73 games. He was named to play in the 2023 Futures Game, then on July 31st was traded to the Cleveland Guardians in return for P Aaron Civale. He was assigned to the Columbus Clippers, switching teams while staying in the same circuit, but before he could join his new team went on the injured list and then on a rehabilitation assignment with the ACL Guardians before finally joining the Clippers in late August. He finished the season by hitting .256 in 21 games there, with 6 homers and 16 RBIs. After the season, he played in the Arizona Fall League.
