After being drafted by the New York Yankees and Cincinnati Reds and not signing, pitcher Kyle Ginley was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 17th round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Joel Grampietro for $155,000 bypassing a chance to go on to Florida Southern College.
Ginley split his first pro season between the Pulaski Blue Jays and the Auburn Doubledays and then spent 2007 with the Lansing Lugnuts, going 7-6 with a 4.73 ERA in 26 starts. He returned to Lansing in 2008 and went 5-0 with a 1.24 ERA in 6 outings for the club before being promoted to the Dunedin Blue Jays, for whom he was 7-7 with a 4.68 ERA.
