Biographical Information[edit]

Kwang-min Song played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 13 years.

Song was drafted by the Hanwha Eagles in the 10th round of the 2002 KBO draft, but he chose to go to college. He represented South Korea in the 2006 Intercontinental Cup, batting .226/.273/.226 and fielding .971 as their main shortstop. He joined the Eagles that season. Song was 7-for-18 in 2006, and he went 8-for-30 in 2007. He played 75 games with a .271/.333/.471 batting line in 2008, then he crushed 14 homers with a .261/.290/.403 batting line in 2009. Song then hit .259/.316/.369 with 6 homers in 2010, and he missed the next two seasons due to military service.

The Daejeon native hit .261/.322/.400 in 67 games in 2013 after returning, and he improved to .316/.357/.468 with 11 homers in 2014, but he then underwent Tommy John surgery and missed most of the 2015 season. Song recovered well as he collected a career-high 83 RBI with 17 homers and a .325/.366/.508 batting line in 2016, and he hit .327/.356/.476 with 13 homers in 2017. He blasted 18 homers with a .297/.328/.477 batting line in 2018, but he slumped to .264/.298/.357 in 2019. His batting line fell to .235/.276/.376 in 2020, then he announced his retirement. He coached Gongju High School in 2021.

Overall, Song hit .286/.325/.431 with 1,029 hits and 131 homers in 13 seasons in the KBO.
