Biographical Information[edit]
Kuan-Wei Yao played in the CPBL.
Yao represented Taiwan in the 2013 U-18 Baseball World Cup, hitting .100/.182/.150 and throwing out 22.2% of attempted base-stealers, starting at catcher. In the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was much better - 4-for-11 with 4 walks and a double. He went 4 for 12 with a walk in the 2018 World University Championship. The Fubon Guardians took him in the fourth round of the 2019 CPBL Draft, but he was mainly placed in the minor league in his first four years as Fubon already had All-Star catcher Pei-Feng Dai. Yao finally got some chance in 2023 as the backup behind Dai, and he hit .252/.349/.287 with 3 doubles in 63 games.
