Biographical Information[edit]

The Los Angeles Dodgers drafted 3B Kody Hoese in the 1st round of the 2019 amateur draft with the 25th overall pick, out of Tulane University. he was coming off an outstanding junior season with Tulane, batting .392 with 23 homers and 61 RBIs in 58 games. One year earlier, the Kansas City Royals had taken him in the 35th round of the 2018 amateur draft, but he declined to join them at that time.

His first professional season in 2019 was split almost evenly between the AZL Dodgers Mota and the Great Lakes Loons of the Midwest League, for a total of 41 games. His slash line was .299/.380/.483 with 29 runs and as many RBIs. After that very promising start, he had to sit out the 2020 season while the minor leagues were shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic, although he was at the Dodgers' alternate training site. He then was the victim of injuries in 2021, limiting him to 59 games with the Tulsa Drillers of the Double-A Central and another 10 with ACL Dodgers on a rehabilitation assignment. Things were disappointing for him at Tulsa, as he batted just .188 with 2 homers and 17 RBIs. He then played in the Arizona Fall League after the season.
