Biographical Information[edit]
James "Kid" McLaughlin was the first player out of Colgate University to come to the majors. He had previously attended St. Bonaventure University, but he was not the first major leaguer out of that college.
Although his given name was James, there had already been a Jim McLaughlin in the majors.
