Biographical Information[edit]

Kenny Socorro has played and coached in the minors.

Socorro hit .488 as a high school junior and .561 as a senior (top in his county). He batted .213/.269/.284 and fielded .961 as a starting infielder as a college freshman, then hit .280/.337/.326 and fielded .923 as a sophomore. As a junior, he hit .264/.319/.330 and fielded .921. He picked things up as a senior, hitting .337/.388/.380 and fielding .954; he was 8th in Conference USA in average and made second-team All-Conference. The Chicago Cubs (behind scout Tim Adkins) took him in the 44th round of the 2011 amateur draft.

Kenny spent the summer of 2011 as a utility infielder for the AZL Cubs (3 for 4, 2 2B, 3 RBI), Boise Hawks (.200/.247/.227 in 23 G) and Peoria Chiefs (.289/.325/.316 in 10 G). He was a player-coach for the 2012 Chiefs, tossing two hitless, scoreless innings and seeing little playing time due to hamstring and ankle injuries. He was back in a similar role in 2013 with the Kane County Cougars.
