Biographical Information[edit]

Kenny Marrero pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Marrero was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 34th round of the 1991 Amateur Draft, and he hit .191/.237/.191 for the Erie Sailors in 1991, splitting catching with Dan Mahony. He had a .258/.302/.348 batting line for the Bristol Tigers, and he batted .221/.299/.351 for the Niagara Falls Rapids. Marrero was turned into a pitcher in 1994, and he was 4-1 with a 2.11 ERA for the Jamestown Jammers. He was 6th in the New York-Penn League with 8 saves and tied Bucky Buckles and Jim Tyrell for 8th with 27 appearances. He went 1-4 with a 3.72 ERA for the Lakeland Tigers in 1995, then he improved to 0-3 with a 2.30 ERA in 1996. Marrero then had a 4-3 record with a 2.94 ERA for the Jacksonville Suns in 1997.

Moving to the Arizona Diamondbacks system in 1998, Marrero went 4-2 with a 5.33 ERA for the AAA Tucson Sidewinders. He then signed with the Mercuries Tigers of Taiwan, but he struggled there as his ERA was 7.52 in 15 games. Marrero signed with the Nashua Pride after leaving Taiwan, but his ERA was 10.03 in 8 games in the rest of the season. He improved to a 2.03 ERA in 9 games in 2000, but his ERA rose to 11.05 in 2 games for the Long Island Ducks in 2001. He announced his retirement after the 2001 season.
