Biographical Information

Pitcher Kenji Kataoka played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.

Kataoka pitched for Japan when they won the 1955 Asian Championship, their first Asian Championship title. He played for Suzuki in the industrial league after high school. The Tochigi native turned pro in 1960 with the Chunichi Dragons. However, he suffered a right shoulder injury, which limited him into 3 games played in 1960 and 1961. He announced his retirement after the 1961 season.
