Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Kenji Kataoka played in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Kataoka pitched for Japan when they won the 1955 Asian Championship, their first Asian Championship title. [1] He played for Suzuki in the industrial league after high school. The Tochigi native turned pro in 1960 with the Chunichi Dragons. However, he suffered a right shoulder injury, which limited him into 3 games played in 1960 and 1961. He announced his retirement after the 1961 season.[2]
