Biographical Information[edit]
OF-1B Kenichi Ota joined the Eagles in the spring of 1937 and hit .226/.313/.248 in 43 games. That fall, he slipped to .151/.338/.179. In the 1938 spring season, he was 2 for 13, then he followed with a .200/.326/.313 line in the fall campaign. In '39, Kenichi batted .203/.329/.227 in 94 games. In 1940, the Eagles player hit .235/.394/.265. Overall, his offensive line was .209/.341/.243 in 277 games. He did not homer in 709 career at-bats.
In 1940, he was drafted into the Japanese military and died four years later in combat in Burma.
