Eagles
After Korakuen Stadium stopped sponsoring its team, the Korakuen Eagles, in October, 1938, the team was bought by Ryutaro Takahashi, president of the DaiNippon Beer company, who renamed the team the Eagles. He would sponsor the team from 1939 to 1941, during which the team was the league's cellar dweller twice, never finishing higher than fourth. Following the outlawing of English in Japanese baseball in October 1940 the team changed its name to Kurowashi, "black eagles."
