Biographical Information[edit]
Ken Kawashima pitched in NPB and the CPBL.
Kawashima was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers, Hiroshima Carp and Kintetsu Buffaloes in the first round of the 1987 NPB draft, and the Carp won the lottery for his rights. He had a 3.66 ERA in 5 games in his rookie year, then he pitched 10 games with a 4.01 ERA in 1989. However, Kawashima suffered from elbow injuries, and he only pitched 3 more games with the big club until the Carp released him in 1994. The China Times Eagles of Taiwan then signed him, and his ERA was 6.23 in 11 games in 1995. Kawashima announced his retirement after the 1995 season.
Overall, Kawashima was 1-4 with a 4.83 ERA, struck out 44 and pitched 59 2/3 innings in 4 years in NPB.
