Biographical Information[edit]

Keith Mucha was an All-American infielder who played three seasons in the minor leagues.

Mucha was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 23rd round of the 1979 amateur draft but did not sign. They took him again in the second round of the secondary draft in 1981. He helped the Clarinda A's win the 1981 National Baseball Congress World Series, taking MVP honors one year after Kevin McReynolds had done so. The Oakland Athletics took him in the 31st round of the 1982 amateur draft; he again did not sign. He played for team USA in a tournament against Japan's collegiate All-Stars that year. He was named the Baseball America All-American at third base in 1982, then the Baltimore Orioles chose him in the 14th round of the 1982 amateur draft. After having been picked four times in the draft, he finally signed.

In 1983, Keith batted .344/.450/.579 in 54 games for the Newark Orioles, but fielded only .887 at third base. He finished 6th in the New York-Penn League in average. Mucha was 2 for 11 for the '84 Hagerstown Suns. He struggled with Hagerstown in 1985 (.225/~.336/.342 in 64 G) to end his career.
