Biographical Information[edit]
Kala Ka'aihue played in the minor leagues from 1969 to 1977. His career included brief stints with the Hawaii Islanders of the Pacific Coast League in both 1975 and 1977, after his career had stopped at the Class A level in 1973. A native Hawaiian, he was signed by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1969 and was principally a catcher.
Two of his sons played professionally. Kila Ka'aihue reached the major leagues, while Kala Ka'aihue Jr. had a long career in the minors.
