Pitcher Justin Anderson was picked in the 14th round of the 2014 amateur draft by the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, out of the University of Texas at San Antonio. The scout was Rudy Vasquez. He began his professional career that year with the AZL Angels and also pitched for the Orem Owlz of the Pioneer League. Combined, he went 1-4, 8.07 in 13 games, including 7 starts. Things went much better for Justin with the Burlington Bees of the Midwest League in 2015. He was 9-9, 3.41 in 28 games (22 starts), pitching 142 2/3 innings and striking out 112. In 2016, he was with the Inland Empire 66ers of the California League, where he went 8-12, 5.70. He again pitched 28 times, all but one of those times as a starter, and logged 145 1/3 innings. He allowed 193 hits, walked 48 and struck out 107. He then played in the Arizona Fall League after the season.

In 2017, he was a non-roster invitee to the Angels' spring training. On March 24th, he was one of eight Angels pitchers combining on a 4-0 no-hitter of the Seattle Mariners in a Grapefruit League game. He went 3-2, 5.06 in 46 games as a reliever in the minor leagues that season. He made his big league debut on April 23, 2018 continuing to pitch in a relief role with the Halos. Over the next two seasons, he logged 111 appearances to a 4.75 ERA with 5 saves in 102 1/3 innings. In July 2020, just before the delayed season was about to start, it was announced that he would undergo Tommy John surgery and would miss the entire year.
