Biographical Information[edit]
Junichi Mochizuki pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Mochizuki was signed by the Eagles club when they were founded in 1937, but he didn't have many chances in his first two seasons. He only pitched 19 games combined with the big club in this period. He entered the rotation in 1939, and he was 8-27 with a 3.01 ERA in 46 appearances. Mochizuki led the JPBL in losses (tied with his teammate Tadashi Kameda), and he nearly appeared in half of their games (the Eagles had 94 games in that season). He was also 7th in strikeouts (between Hiroshi Nakao and Kuranosuke Furuya) and 9th in appearances (tied with Masao Nakamoto). Mochizuki then enlisted into the military, and his professional career ended.
Overall, Mochizuki was 11-32 with a 3.02 ERA, struck out 166 and pitched 397 innings in 3 years in NPB.
