Jung-wook Um pitched in the KBO for 11 years.
Um was drafted by the Ssangbangwool Raiders in the 2nd round of the 2000 KBO draft, and the Raiders became the SK Wyverns that season. He didn't get many chances with the big club in his first 3 seasons, and he only pitched 9 games combined. Um recorded a 5.40 ERA in 16 games in 2003, then he went 7-5 with a 3.76 ERA in 2004. He only pitched 8 games with a 0.61 ERA in 2005, and he missed most of the next four seasons due to a shoulder injury.
He returned in 2010, but his ERA was 6.27 in 34 appearances. He had a solid 2.13 ERA in 20 games in 2011, and he notched 6 saves. Um threw a 163km/h (101.2 mph) fastball in the minors, and that was the fastest pitch ever by a Korean pitcher. Um collected 12 holds with a 3.49 ERA in 40 games in 2012, but he only pitched 5 games with the big club until he announced his retirement in 2015.
Overall, Um was 20-18 with a 4.11 ERA, struck out 370 and pitched 341 1/3 innings in 11 seasons in the KBO.
