Biographical Information[edit]
Julio Torrealba was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Jose Fuentes in 2010. [1] He played in the lower rungs of the Cincinnati Reds system in 2011 and 2012, then became a star in Spain. He was with the VSL Reds in 2011, going 0-2, 5.71,and with the DSL Reds in 2012, where he was 2-3, 4.26.
He found a lot more success in Spain as the star hurler of the Marlins Puerto Cruz, based in the Canary Islands. He went 7-0 with a 3.09 ERA and 74 K in 64 IP as the team's #2 hurler in 2019, when they won the title. He was 4th in the league in ERA, 5th in opponent average (.239), 10th in innings, 8th in Ks and 5th in wins. [2] Moving to the bullpen in 2021, he had a 1.64 ERA in eight appearances and the Marlins won again. [3]
