Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Julio Bruno played eleven seasons in the minor leagues for the San Diego Padres (1990-1996), Detroit Tigers (1997) and Plataneros de Tabasco (1998-2000). From 2001-2006, he managed the DSL Royals. He was the hitting coach for the 2007 AZL Royals and was promoted to manager in 2008. Bruno was a hitting coach for the Idaho Falls Chukars in 2010, the AZL Royals again in 2011, Kane County Cougars in 2012, Wilmington Blue Rocks in 2013 and bench coach for the Idaho Falls in 2014. Bruno returned to managing with the GCL Marlins in 2015-2016. In 2017-2018 Bruno served as the Miami Marlins's Latin American field coordinator. Bruno was hitting coach of the DSL Pirates 2 in 2019 and was scheduled to return before COVID-19 caused the season to be cancelled.

The Chicago White Sox hired Bruno in 2021 as their minor league field coordinator. He retained this role through the 2023 season. In 2023 Bruno also served as the DSL White Sox hitting coach.

Bruno also spent several years as a hitting coach in the Dominican Winter League.
