Julian Steinberg is a German catcher. He was 8 for 18 with 3 runs, 3 doubles and a team-best 9 RBI for Germany in the 2005 European Junior Championship. He debuted in the Bundesliga with the 2006 Solingen Alligators, hitting .233/.294/.267 as the backup to Kai Gronauer. In 2007, Steinberg batted .333/.460/.391 and was 5th in the league with 17 walks; it was more impressive as he was not a full-time player, only catching when Gronauer moved to the outfield.

In 2008, Julian became a regular at catcher when Gronauer signed with the New York Mets during the season. He hit .256/.373/.360 in a disappointing first turn as a starter. Steinberg is on Germany's preliminary 40-man roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
