Biographical Information

Juan Samboy was the top hurler for the Dominican national team at the 1998 Baseball World Cup, going 1-0 with a save and a 1.04 ERA in 7 relief outings. He allowed only 4 hits in 29 at-bats and struck out 11 in 8 2/3 IP; he also walked four. He tied Byung-hyun Kim for the event lead in games pitched. He remained with the Dominican team for the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games.
