Biographical Information[edit]
Juan De La Cruz joined the Cleveland Indians organization at age 16. He spent his first three years playing in the Dominican Summer League before moving stateside in 2013. De La Cruz reached the AA level briefly in his final season in 2017. Overall he hit .216/.296/.292. Defensively he focused upon catching while also spending time as a first baseman.
After completing his playing career, De La Cruz joined Cleveland's player development staff. He was a hitting coach for the AZL Indians 1 in 2018 and a bench coach for the Akron RubberDucks in 2019. De La Cruz was slated to move to the Lynchburg Hillcats in 2020 as a bench coach before the coronavirus pandemic caused the cancellation of the minor league season. He did coach the Hillcats in 2021. In 2022 he returned to the RubberDucks, again as a bench coach. De La Cruz was promoted to a manager of the DSL Guardians Red in 2023-2024.
