Biographical Information[edit]

Juan Carlos Infante has played in the US minor leagues, the independent leagues and Italy.

Infante hit .254/.359/.254 in 26 games for the 1999 GCL Expos, when he was only 17. In 2000, he batted .238/.321/.266 for the same club, being used as their main second baseman. He hit .239 for the 2001 Fort Worth Cats in the independent leagues. In 2004, Juan batted .267/.358/.461 for the New Jersey Jackals, alternating between second base and shortstop.

Infante was with the 2006 Anzio club in Italy, hitting .339/.387/.478 in 27 games. Had he qualified, he would have been third in Serie A1 in batting average. He was in Canada in 2008, with the Ottawa Rapides (.242/.326/.307 in 67 G) and the Edmonton Cracker-Cats (.263/.349/.342 in 20 G).

The Caracas native was back in Italy in 2009 with Bologna. He was 4 for 13 with 2 runs and 2 RBI in the 2009 European Cup's Matino phase. In the Cup's Final Four, he went 2 for 8 with a walk, 2 runs and 2 steals, tying Joe Mazzuca for the most swipes in the Final Four. During the Italian Baseball League season, Infante produced at a .321/.419/.438 rate. Despite missing time with injury, he tied for 5th in runs (36), was 9th in average, 10th in OBP and 5th in steals (10). He then was with Italy for the 2009 Baseball World Cup, seeing regular action at third base due to an injury that kept Giuseppe Mazzanti off the roster.
