Biographical Information[edit]

The son of Wendell Magee, second baseman Joshua Magee was selected by the Houston Astros in the 18th round of the 2010 amateur draft (Keith Bogan was the scout) and spent three seasons playing in their organization. Magee hit .227/.286/.290 and fielded .944 as the main 2B for the 2010 GCL Astros. He led Gulf Coast League second basemen with 89 putouts. In 2011, he batted .283/.346/.363 with 16 steals in 26 tries for the Greeneville Astros while fielding just .926 at 2B. His 18 errors led South Atlantic League second sackers. He entered August 12 hitting .200 but then got 12 hits in 12 at-bats over the next four games, a record since Minor League Baseball started tracking hits in consecutive at-bats in 2005. That lifted Magee's average to .268. Back with Greeneville in 2012, he was 7 for 29 with a walk, two doubles, four steals in six tries, three runs and a RBI to end his career. He had hit .254/.314/.326 in 111 games, with 27 steals and 15 times caught stealing. He fielded .936 overall at second base.
