Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Josh Pettitte is the son of Andy Pettitte. Coming out of high school, he was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 37th round of the 2013 amateur draft. His father was still active with the Yankees at the time, and indeed earned the 250th win of his career on the day Josh was drafted, June 8th. He was considered a decent prospect but a long shot to make the majors, but fell well down in the draft order as he had a strong commitment to go to college.

Josh did not sign with the Yankees and went on to attend first Baylor University, where he did not appear in any games as a freshman in 2014. He then transfered to Rice University but only pitched one season there, in 2015, when he went 1-1, 6.16 in 14 games as a reliever; he did strike out 27 batters in 19 innings. He was then sidelined by an injury and while he worked to come back, he never did and as a result never had a professional career.

After baseball, he worked in real estate and in sales for an electric supplies company. His younger brother, Jared Pettitte, has been a minor league pitcher.
