Josef Diepold
Josef Diepold played for the German national team on several occasions. As a 1B-RF in the 1955 European Championship, he hit .250/.308/.250 with two runs and two RBI in three games; he tied for second on the team in both runs and RBI. Only Karl Phillipp had more hits for the Bronze Medalists. He slumped to .167/.167/.250 in the 1956 European Championship and fielded .864. In the 1957 European Championship, he was 1 for 5 with a double; Germany got the Silver for their best European Championship (through 2018). He was 0 for 6 with two walks in the 1958 European Championship as Germany got Bronze. He had batted .171/.237/.229 in 11 games for Germany.
