Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Jose Rosario pitched two professional seasons.

He was signed by the Houston Astros organization on December 13, 2013. The scouts were Oz Ocampo, Roman Ocumarez and Rafael Belen. He began his pro career in 2014 with the DSL Astros Blue of the Dominican Summer League. He went 2-4, 4.37 in 16 games, including 3 starts, striking out 35 in 47 1/3 innings. He was back with the same team at the start of 2015 and did very well, with a 3-1, 2.60 record in 4 games, to earn a promotion to the United States. There, he spent the remainder of the season with the GCL Astros, where he was 1-5, 5.40 in 14 games. His combined line for the season was 4-6, 4.40 in 18 games, including 8 starts, with 51 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

Lanky at 6'6" for only 180 lb. and blessed with very good control, he was nicknamed "El Flaco" (the thin one) by teammates.

On January 24, 2016, his life was cut short when he died in a motorcycle accident in his native Dominican Republic.
