Hermanas Mirabal
Hermanas Mirabal is a largely rural province in the Dominican Republic, located in the northern part of the country. Its main cities are Salcedo, its capital, Tenares and Villa Tapia. Until 2007, it was called Salcedo before being renamed in honor of the Mirabal sisters, three of which were assassinated for their opposition to dictator Rafael Trujillo in the early 1960s.
Jose Rosario died in a motorcycle crash on one of the province's roads.
