Biographical Information

José Ortega was on the Venezuelan national team that won Bronze in the 2022 Bolivarian Games. He was the DH and cleanup hitter in their opening win over the Dominican Republic. He drew a walk from former major leaguer Alfredo Figaro his first time up then doubled in Jose Garcia the next. He finished the Games at .214/.368/.357 with four walks and four RBI in six games, handling 35 chances error-free between first base and catcher. He tied for 8th in the Games in RBI and tied for 5th in walks with Luis Castro and Gerson Jiménez.
