José Joaquín Masís Mora (Piquín)

Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher-outfielder José Masís played 29 years in Costa Rica and later managed there. He won several titles and once threw a perfect game, fanning 24 in 18 innings. He got the first Costa Rican national team in an Amateur World Series, in 1945, their lone win of the tourney. He also was with them for the 1946 Central American and Caribbean Games, 1950 Central American and Caribbean Games, 1950 Amateur World Series and 1951 Amateur World Series. He is part of the Costa Rican Sports Hall of Fame.
