Biographical Information[edit]
Second baseman Jorge Sequea played in the minor leagues from 1998 to 2005.
He began his career with in the Detroit Tigers system, stealing 13 bases and hitting 24 doubles in 112 games for the Erie SeaWolves his fifth campaign. The Toronto Blue Jays selected him in the AAA portion of the 2002 Rule V Draft. He spent most of 2003 with the Triple-A Syracuse SkyChiefs, hitting .255/.341/.373 in 73 games there. He also hit .342/.400/.459 in 33 games with the New Haven Ravens to bring his season slash line to .280/.358/.398. With the SkyChiefs in 2004, Sequea hit .266/.345/.367 with ten steals in 97 games. He played for the Olmecas de Tabasco in 2005 to wrap up his professional career. Overall, he batted .266/.343/.373 in 435 games in the US. He also hit .287 in 97 games for the Caribes de Anzoategui from 1998-2005.
He died in an auto accident at 25 years old.
His brother, Jacobo Sequea, played professionally as well.
