Biographical Information[edit]

Jorge Jimenez has played as high as AA through 2009.

Jimenez was taken by the Boston Red Sox in the 15th round of the 2006 amateur draft. Signed by scout Jim Woodward, he was assigned to the Lowell Spinners that year, where he hit .257/.365/.279. He improved to .303/.412/.475 back with Lowell in 2007 and struck out once per 16.17 plate appearances, the lowest rate in the New York-Penn League. His 23 doubles led the New York-Penn League, as did his .958 fielding percentage and 14 twin killings at third base.

Jimenez split 2008 between the Lancaster Jethawks (.352/.421/.479 in 70 G) and the Portland Sea Dogs (.270/.305/.389 in 55 G). He fielded only .912 at third for the year. He was 4th among Red Sox farmhands in average and tied for second with 32 doubles, two behind Zach Daeges.

Jorge spent all of 2009 with Portland, producing at a .289/.366/.422 rate with 87 RBIand fielding .932 at third base. He was chosen by the Houston Astros in the 2009 Rule V Draft that year and was sent to the Florida Marlins in a deal for Matt Lindstrom. He was eventually returned to the Red Sox and spent 2010 with the Pawtucket Red Sox.
