Biographical Information[edit]

Jong-hoon Park was a top outfielder in South Korea in the early 1980s.

Park debuted as a pro with the 1983 OB Bears, hitting .312/.380/.419 and leading the Korea Baseball Organization with 117 hits. He won the first KBO Rookie of the Year Award and also won a Gold Glove.

In 1984, the left-hander batted .306/.377/.439, followed by .342/.399/.471 with 17 steals in 1985. He again won a Gold Glove that year. In '86, Park fell to .259/.341/.363. He rebounded to hit .284/.336/.398 in 1987. Park batted .262/.328/.327 in 1988 and .254/.328/.315 in 1989. At that point, he retired due to chronic back problems. He finished with a career batting line of .290/.355/.391.

From 1994-1996, Park coached for the LG Twins then he was a coach for the Hyundai Unicorns from 1997-2002. From 2003-2006, he managed the minor league team of the SK Wyverns; he then was minor league manager for the Doosan Bears through 2009.

In 2010, Park became manager of the LG Twins. After seasons of 57-71-5 (2010) and 59-72-2 (2011), he was let go in favor of Ki-tae Kim.
