Biographical Information[edit]
Jonathan Robinson was an early star in Nicaragua. He was on the Nicaraguan national team when they won the Bronze in the 1938 Central American and Caribbean Games. In the 1939 Amateur World Series, he hit .294 and tied teammate Stanley Cayasso for the most home runs (1) as Nicaragua finished second. In the 1940 Amateur World Series, he led in average (.444), runs (14), homers (1), walks (14), runs (14) and slugging (.583). He also was 1-1 with a 3.27 ERA as a pitcher. He hit .304 in the 1941 Amateur World Series and went 0-2 on the mound. Nicaragua again finished second. He hit .273 in the 1944 Amateur World Series, going 0-1. During the 1945 Amateur World Series, he batted .360 as the Nicaraguan right fielder. He had hit .350 with 3 HR in 123 AB in his five Amateur World Series appearances.
He won the Panamanian League batting title in 1946 and later played in the Colombian League, Nicaraguan League and Mexican Pacific League.
In 1996, he was inducted into the Nicaraguan Sports Hall of Fame.
