Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder John Stone played minor league baseball from 1938 to 1941 and 1946 to 1952. He hit over .300 seven out of eleven years. He led the 1947 Lone Star League with a .396 average, 224 hits, 32 homers and 185 RBI and the 1948 LSL with 23 HR and 146 RBI. In 1949 he led the East Texas League with 199 hits. Overall, Stone hit .326 in 1,299 minor league games with 186 HR and 1,053 RBI, however he spent only 5 games above class B ball, and hit .286 and .293 in his two seasons in B ball.

Stone also managed the Henderson Oilers for parts on 1948 and 1950.
