Biographical Information[edit]

John Ryan played 7 games for the Baltimore Monumentals of the Union Association in 1884. For some reason, his playing record became confused with that of Dan Sheahan who played for two other teams in the same league that season. This, the playing record listed in Baseball Encyclopedias under the name John Ryan was an amalgam of the two players.

Ryan was a pitcher for 6 games, and an outfielder for another 2 (he finished the one start he did not complete as a pitcher in the outfield). He went 3-2, 3.35 on the mound, but hit just .080.

Little is known about him except that he hailed from Birmingham, MI.
