Biographical Information[edit]
John Riddle played 11 games for the Washington Nationals in 1889 and 27 for the Philadelphia Athletics in 1890. His most common position was catcher, although he was also in the outfield quite a bit. Another catcher on the Nationals was Connie Mack, who was a year older than Riddle. With the Athletics, the regular catcher was Wilbert Robinson.
John had previously played with a top amateur team called Mundell's Solar Tips [1].
He is not to be confused with a later player named Johnny Riddle.
