Biographical Information[edit]
John Montes has been on the Puerto Rican national team.
He hit .275/.326/.389 as a freshman at UCF and .182/.296/.182 as a sophomore. Transferring to USF, he improved to .274/.342/.432 as a junior in 2023 and .309/.386/.500 as a senior, with 41 RBI in 53 games. Playing for Puerto Rico in the 2024 Premier 12, he debuted against Mexico as the DH. Retired by Wilmer Ríos, he was then lifted for Edrick Félix his next time up. He finished 1-for-7 with a HBP and two runs, his hit being a homer off the Netherlands' Tom de Blok. [1]
