John Harrington
John Harrington was CEO of the Yawkey Trust, which owned the Boston Red Sox from 1992 to 2002.
He first intended to build a new Fenway Park on the current land and adjacent properties. He claimed that Fenway was antiquated and could not be maintained. In the late 1990s the park began to look particularly old as the paint began to peel and cement cracked. It seemed the ownership had completely given up on renovation. The upkeep of the park was restored when the new ownership John Henry, Tom Werner and Larry Lucchino took over, adding new seating and expanded the clubhouse, concessions and fan areas.
