Biographical Information[edit]
John Doyle had a record of 0-3 but a decent ERA of 2.63 in his single major league season with the [St. Louis Brown Stockings]] of the American Association in 1882. Although his 2.63 ERA wasn't bad, he allowed a great number of unearned runs. John also played for a number of minor league teams in the northeastern U.S. and managed the minor league Providence Grays in 1886.
Doyle was an early player out of what later became Fordham University, which he attended in 1873-1879. John was one of the first ten Canadians to come to the majors, and the first one born in Halifax, NS.
He is not to be confused with John Joseph Doyle who is called Jack Doyle.
