Biographical Information[edit]
John Crowley played with the Philadelphia Quakers in 1884, batting .244 in 48 games (168 at bats). He also hung around the minors for several seasons. Sporting Life carried his obituary in their September 26, 1896 edition, saying that he was a "noted catcher" with a "national reputation". It stated that an illness caused Crowley's retirement.
As of 2024, the only known "image" of him is the picture shown above from an 1887 Buchner Gold Coin baseball card.
